Ellinor Südow

Team Manager

Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering

Through a project defined by innovation and sustainability, our team learn to collaborate and test our theoretical knowledge through real-life experiences by building a competitive solar car together. I’m looking forward to grow as a leader, improve my decision-making, organizing a team on a large scale, and learn a lot of practical skills that can help me in my future as an engineer in sustainable energy.

As a team manager, it is my responsibility to create the best possible environment for our entire team to succeed. I aim to create a group that collaborate well within and across our sub-teams, have a high ceiling during discussions where different opinions are valued and drive us forward, as well as making sure every member of HUST is seen, heard, and challenge them to grow individually both as people and in their roles.

The best part of HUST is being around a group of ambitious, kind, and passionate students who work together and accomplish common goals through problem solving. The many hours we spend together form a bond that goes far beyond building an amazing solar car. Being a part of HUST is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I am grateful for the challenge and responsibility that comes from being the team manager.

Technical Manager

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering

There’s no part of my education that has contributed more to my future than HUST. Being part of the project has given me an incredible number of friends, valuable knowledge, and practical experience in the electrical field. Joining the project has been the best decision I’ve made during my time at the university, considering the huge leap in competence it has given me.

As the Technical Manager, I am responsible for guiding the overall technical direction of the project and ensuring that all systems integrate smoothly. Moving from low-voltage engineering into this broader role has allowed me to build on my technical foundation while taking on greater responsibility across disciplines. Leading coordination between subteams has given me valuable experience in decision-making, system understanding, and supporting the team in delivering a cohesive and reliable vehicle.

The project has given me more than I could ever have imagined. I hoped to learn a lot and meet established engineers in my field — and I did. I hoped to have a great time building a car and competing — and I did. What I didn’t expect was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. Hopefully, these friends will one day become colleagues so we can continue working on great projects and having a great time together.

Master of Science in Electrical Engineering

Before joining the Halmstad University Solar Team, I never imagined what I was about to become a part of. What started as a simple decision turned into an unforgettable journey filled with experiences, growth, and friendships that now feel like a second family.

As a former Team Manager and now Senior Advisor, I support the new Team Manager with guidance, structure, and continuity. This role allows me to stay closely involved while helping the team evolve and move forward together. Growing up, I was never particularly interested in engineering. Through my studies and my time in HUST, however, a completely new world has opened up - one filled with challenges I now love to tackle and opportunities that continue to shape my future in ways I never expected.

The best part about HUST is the people. The shared passion, ambition, and support within the team make it truly unique and something I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of. I have never once regretted joining HUST - and I would do it all over again without hesitation!

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Being part of HUST means joining a team driven by innovation, teamwork, and the challenge of developing a competitive solar car. It allows me to apply engineering skills in a real project and grow through hands-on problem-solving.

As a Senior Advisor, I support the team by providing technical guidance, long-term perspective, and feedback based on my previous experience as Technical Manager. The role allows me to contribute strategically without being involved in daily operations, helping the team navigate complex engineering decisions while fostering their independence. I enjoy being able to offer insights across disciplines and help strengthen the project’s technical development.

The best part of HUST is the strong team spirit and motivation shared by everyone involved. We learn from each other, push boundaries, and achieve things together that go far beyond what any course can offer.
