Louis Duparcq
Head of Mechanics
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Hust is the most interesting part of studying at Halmstad University. It makes it possible for me to use the knowledge learned in school in a practical way, and really allows me to challenge myself. It also means being part of a team that shares the same drive, where we learn from each other, solve problems together, and build something greater than ourselves. I get the chance to take responsibility, make decisions, and contribute to both development and documentation while growing as a leader, mentor, and engineer. As the mechanical leader, I ensure that my team pursues its’ goals within the limits of what is possible. I serve as the link between the leadership group and my team, and I coordinate all work within the team to make sure we achieve the best possible results together. This not only helps my team but also myself as I learn leadership skills I would not get the opportunity to learn otherwise.
The best part of this project is seeing the work we put into designing the parts of the car being reality, for example coming home with the newly laminated aerobody and grasping the full size of it, realising the work paid off.
I would join Halmstad University Solar Team a hundred times over.

To me being part of HUST means joining an exciting project, and it feels inspiring to learn from others, and be part of a group that works together toward a big shared goal.
As an Aerodynamics Engineer, I’m stepping into a role that is both challenging and exciting. I get to take my theoretical knowledge and use it for very real problems. I will gain hands-on experience that will be extremely valuable in my future career.
The best part of HUST is the team spirit. Everyone is driven and curious, and it’s a great environment to grow, share knowledge, and have fun while doing serious engineering.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
For me, HUST is the perfect step from theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering. It is also a platform to get to know other driven students who all strive to jointly solve complex problems and develop into the engineers of the future.
My role as Wheel Assembly Engineer entails being directly responsible for designing, constructing, and optimizing a durable wheel assembly where every gram counts. I act as a critical link that translates theoretical requirements into physically functioning and competition-ready components in the car.
The best thing about HUST is gaining experience in solving real engineering problems while meeting new friends who share the same interests!

Being a part of HUST is about pushing yourself as a student by using your knowledge gained from your studies into an actual project. The experience gained from being a part of this project made me grow as a person, as an future engineer and how much you can learn from so many other people with different interests.
I have been a part of HUST mechanical team since 2024 and my responsibilities have been designing the monocoque and wheel covers for HENRY, and being a strategist and race engineer during the iLumen European Solar Challenge 2024. Being a designer of such a core part of the car has taught me much regarding manufacturing ability, the importance of following regulations for safety, and how to transform CAD ideas into reality.
The best thing about HUST is that we all share the same interest and passion for creating the best possible solar car. Also, the opportunity to learn so much from a project like this, and getting the opportunity to participate in the events in Belgium and Australia have been amazing!

For me, being a part of HUST is about challenging myself, moving forward and always being willing to learn something new. I also see it as a kind of hobby, just because of how fun it is to come up with different ideas for different situations and I therefore see it as a kind of creative outlet. On a more practical level it allows me to learn new skills required for real life problems and utilize what I have learnt in my program.
I am a part of the mechanical team and have already been a part of HUST for one year in the role of production. This year I am switching roles to the design of the suspension and steering system. Having been a part of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2025 really made me determined to make this season's car better; hopefully making us reach the finish line. For this role I am excited to be able to use my cad skills to design and simulate parts. I already feel like I have learnt so much from being in production (CAM, CNC Milling) and am eager to see what this season has in store for me.
The best thing about HUST is that it really feels like we really move as a team where everyone has the same goal. I am also very thankful that people in HUST are willing to teach their real life skills from the area they are specialised in. This is something that you can’t replicate with normal school. I am sure looking back on this experience that it will be something I won’t regret being a part of.

For me, being part of HUST is an opportunity to grow and apply my theoretical knowledge to real, challenging problems. Working alongside other students from diverse backgrounds has given me new perspectives and knowledge on how different ideas and solutions can come together toward a shared goal, building the best solar car!
I am part of the mechanical team and have designed and manufactured the roll bar and rear frame. Throughout the project, I have also been involved in composite manufacturing, car assembly, worked as a strategist during the iLumen European Solar Challenge 2024, and served as a mechanic during the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2025. The main challenge in my work has been optimizing the weight of the driver-protecting structure while ensuring that it meets the strict safety standards set by the competition regulations. Through the car’s manufacturing process, I have gained alot knowledge about me and the methods needed to bring an assembled model of a car into real life.
The best thing about HUST is the spirit of this team, we motivate and learn from each other to build truly somethin special. The process of this project has been both entertaining and at many times hard and challenging, but I will always carry both memories with me and, in hindsight, be forever grateful.

HUST allows you to learn many skills that aren't taught in school otherwise. The freeform nature of a group of students running a project on their own accord, from marketing and finance, to design and production presents many challenges. Working as a team across multiple disciplines with likeminded students and engineers creates one of the most rewarding projects I have been a part of.
I have been a part of HUST and the mechanical team since the end of 2023. My main responsibility has been composite part production and simulations for our monocoque structure. This has been challenging since it's a material I haven't worked with in the past so I have had to learn many of the skills needed during the project. Learning from past team members and our industry partners have helped me a lot along the way.
Apart from the previously mentioned opportunity to learn, the project is an exciting competition and challenge. During my time with the team we have competed both in Belgium and Australia. The races I have been a part of have been great adventures that I wouldn't have had the opportunity to make any other way.

For me, being part of HUST is a special opportunity to learn from the various expertise of my teammates and to grow together, closing the gap between individual study and collaborative, real world engineering.
My role as Structural Design engineer involves learning how to design the car's chassis to ensure safety and efficiency. I look forward to improving my skills in CAD software and understanding how to balance structural integrity with weight optimization.
The best thing so far is the energy and ambition of the team. Even as a new member I feel the shared drive to innovate and the supportive environment where everyone pushes each other to solve complex problems together.

Composite Lamination
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
For me HUST is an opportunity to broaden my horizons and learn more about what it means to create something far beyond what any purely academic program can offer.
As a part of the mechanical team and as a Composite Lamination Engineer I will work with manufacturing the body and monocoque of the car using composite materials such as carbon fibre. I believe that this role gives an invaluable opportunity to learn about modern manufacturing processes as well as a great way to get connections in the industry.
The best thing about HUST is learning to work as a team to solve difficult engineering problems and to gain real world experience and of course to meet new friends.
